Hi All,

I am mostly a lurker here but felt I needed to put in my two cents. I am an
active LLL Leader (AAPL) and a Private Practice LC member of both ILCA and
NYLCA.

I am also 35 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child and I attended the NYC
nurse-in an found it very empowering. These wome - and a few men - and lots
of babies & toddlers - were well behave and very powerful. I can't tell you
how many people passing by were showing their support - including the cops
on duty.
I was thrilled when the cops said they needed to set up a barricade or two
and had to keep bringing them on because there were so many of us.
I spoke with the NYTimes reporter last week and was pleased with it. I
shared it this morning with my perinatalogist and the nurse monitoring me.
I believe this was good news for us. I agree that demonstrations can often
be presented in a bad light but this was not. This was organized and well
thought out. It has certainly brought the conversation to the front of many
minds at least for this moment in time.
Many of my husbands co-workers pointed out the articles to him - they know
what I do!
In my opinion, these well thought out demonstrations are good for us!
And, as always, thank you Lacnetters for all the information you so
generously share.
