Perhaps we should call it "nipple preference"?  But I agree with you: the
motion these babies do is more of a bottle suck, with pursed lips, on the
breast, and if that isn't confusion, I don't know what is.

Regarding glucose levels, Riordan & Auerbach's book has the best
discussion of this that I have seen anywhere. It is actually discussed
twice, in two different places, and among the notable information is the
suggestion that 30 be the minimum level for the first 24 hours after
birth. Look it up under "hypoglycemia-- infant".  They also discuss and
debunk the myth that glucose water is a good treatment.....
