A story was published in Newsday on June 18, titled: Inside Iraq / Iraq's
Sacrificial Lambs / Its babies are dying in squalor; is UN embargo to blame?
by Matthew McAllester, Middle East Correspondent. In the News section, page
A07. An edited version appeared in the Arizona Republic today, Sun, June
25, page A23.
Go to www.Newsday.com & search the archives to find the whole story before
the 7 day limit on free access expires. After that, they charge for copies.
The focus is on the dire poverty, filthy water, open sewage, etc, and the
babies dying as a result. The giveaway for the "real story" is this line:
"Facing him on a wall of the room was a photograph of two chubby,
European-looking toddlers giggling as they fed long grass to a kid goat."
Wanna bet there were some words printed on that picture? Anyone want to
clue this journalist in to the story he missed?
I saved the article in Word, complete with the copyright notice.
