My personal experience (that is, in my practice) with recommending
breastmilk as eye drops for nasolacrimal duct obstruction is that it works
very well. I've had one "treatment failure" and had to start medication eye
drops.
I also recommend it when a child gets gooey eyes when they're having a cold.
As far as older child (toddler) pinkeye from daycares, I have less
experience, but I think it could work.
And my own personal (with my own baby) experience is that it works very well.
There is no study about this.
Another caveat: I'm choosy about WHICH mothers I tell this to. I've had
some moms react in a way which made me feel that they thought I was a
little "out there."
Method: one drop fresh, expressed in each eye whenever you feed him/her or
every 3-4 hours while awake, and do this until the eyes look normal again.
Terry
