In Arizona, WIC provides enough formula to feed a baby up to about 10 lbs
in body weight. She can choose powder or liquid concentrate. When baby
needs more, mom must buy it with family income or Food Stamps. They
carefully counsel her on proper mixing or dilutions. I think the WIC
guidelines provide for baby cereals beginning at 4 mos.
Our WIC office also have excellent BFing Counselors who "talk up" exclusive
BFing for 6 mos.
