According to a physio I saw who specialised in helping babies BF, a baby
can get constipated if there is a muscle weakness in the body, affecting
the bowel. My daughter had a weakness down the left side of her body due
we think to her being head down in utero for many many months. I will
tell the bf story another time but when solids were introduced around 7
months with just the first mouthful there was an incredible difference
in her stools. I went easy with the food, she wasn't overly interested
either. After 10 months she started to crawl and almost overnight.the
constipation disappeared and she became ravenous for food, eating more
than her 3 year old brother. Excersizes we were told to do for the
constipation were lots of pull to sits, and placing her lying on her
tummy over a beach ball and gently rolling it back and forth. I am sure
they helped but it was the crawling that really did it. and all the
breast milk of course. I cant imagine the difficulties she might have
had if she had been on Aim.
