I am a pharmacist and new to the lactation field. The store that I work at
sells and rents pumps and supplies. I often get mothers returning pumps after
only a few weeks, not because their infants are out of the hospital and at
home nursing, but because they are weaning to formula. I would love to be
more persuasive to try to get these mothers to reconsider, however, I am
afraid of alienating customers to our pharmacy and store. I would love to
hear suggestions on how to be a better nag without nagging. I also would like
suggestions on books to read to be able to help deal with the small problems
or just normal circumstances. Ex. I have a patient who is nursing a 10 month
old and doesn't know how many times a day he should be nursing. I just need a
reference to find some "norms". Thank you for sharing your collective wisdom.
I have learned a tremendous amount just lurking. P.S. Generics do
differ from manufacturer to manufacturer, just because you have trouble with
one another may be just fine. Sometimes fillers, coatings, or coloring can
cause problems. This is why we have so many "little white pills"!
