I know this is purely anecdotal, but for one of my 3 c-sections I had my
epidural left in for 2 days post-op. It was wonderful. I had no pain and was
able to concentrate on my baby instead of my misery. I had the easiest time
initiating breastfeeding (this was baby number 2, out of 3) and was up on my
feet and walking comfortably sooner than with the other 2 c-sections. I was
not sleepy, unlike the other 2 c-sections where I was drugged on a morphine
pump. It was so much easier to care for my baby and bond with her when I was
not in pain.
