Jackie states;
>>I am looking for any information regarding infertility, use of fertility
drugs to get pregnant and failure to bring in a full milk supply.  I am
working with a baby who is very slow to gain weight
Feedings every 2 hours, pumping and a course of Reglan have not made a
differnce in her feeling fuller.  Pumping gets her only 1/2 ounce.  Baby is
17 days old and not back to birth weight, gaining very slowly.<<

Can you clarify-is this Mom pumping 1/2oz TOTAL over the course of the day or
1/2oz qfd.
If the answer is the latter, I would suggest that baby isn't adequately
emptying the breast at feeding time. With either answer, Mom should be
encouraged to focus feeding on enhancing effectiveness; feed in 2 different
positions eg. xcradle and f-ball holds, on *each* breast for only as long as
it takes to maintain rhythmic suckling with compression. That is, Empty the
breasts as quickly and as effectively as possible in order to maintain very
frequent feeds.
Check the archives for discussion around infertility and milk production
effects particularly in regards to PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) as this
has been discussed many times.
