Speaking only anecdotally here...
The LLL Leader who was my mentor spoke of having excruciating pain deep in her
breasts while nursing. The culprit turned out to be the
deodorant/antiperspirant she was using. A change in brands (and I assume
chemicals involved) resolved the situation almost instantly. I'dlove some
input on this from more physiologically-oriented Lactnetters--I assume this was
becaue the breast is sort of an enlarged sweat gland, and applying something
that changes the sweat glands under the arms (and near the breasts) affected
the breasts as well?? I should think that shaving the underarms (ah, societal
pressures!) and then applying the anti-whatever would exacerbate the problem as
well.
