Doctors, Nurses, LCs, CLEs, CLCs, Moms, LLLL, Peer Counselors - EVERYONE!

Question: How valuable is LLLI's Conference in terms of education, seeing
things like extended (Normal) breastfeeding, "attachment" parenting,
involved dads, an international breastfeeding community, etc?

If it is no longer there, do you think anyone will care? Will there be a
void or just bigger/better area conferences? What about the Physician's
Seminars?

LLLI has a conference planned for 2007 but no conference in 2009. This is
the first time since they started having conferences that there will not be
one in 2 yrs.

Is there another "international" event that could take it's place? Any where
else you can go into a highly technical session and see nursing
babes/toddlers with mothers (who are brilliant lactation professionals in
their own right) alongside doctors and lactation consultants? I have
researched just about every lactation conference out there and NONE of them
want me if I need to bring a child over 3 months.

Do you think LLLI needs to offer a conference for professionals and families
or is this an outdated conference idea that should be abandoned?

I am not officially representing LLL here, I am just a big LLL supporter
(who still sees the flaws too) that is thinking out loud about this issue. I
am deeply saddened that there will not be a 2009 conference and very likely
never again.
Wouldn't you think that after 50 years, LLLI would be stronger than ever?

Any thoughts?
Micky
