Recent post on implants reminded me I wanted to post this
observation/question.  In the moms that I have worked with who have
had breast reductions ( both the pedicle and nipple removal
techniques) I have noticed that the nipples are not very
protruberant and do not come out well with stimulation.  I had also
noticed this in myself (I had a pedicle style reduction for symmetry
on one side when I had reconstruction on the other).  My nipples had
been neither flat nor especially protruberant, but they did come out
well with stimulation and this no longer occurred after the surgery
although the innervation was definitely still there.  I am wondering
if it is just coincidence that I have noticed this in all the
reductions that I have observed.  If this is universal or at least
common, it could certainly contribute to the potential difficulties
of nursing after a reduction.
