My dh is, among other titles, administrator of the continuing care/nursing
home/rehab center of a community hospital.  Tonight he brought in a bill he
is to pay from a vendor -- for $.01.  Lovely bill -- even has some sort of a
number on it, but it doesn't say exactly what the bill is for.

In case anyone is worried about the fate of the penny in the US, it is still
alive and well.

Fortunately, I still had a dividend check from a retirement fund in which I
had invested -- for $.02.  I signed it over to the vendor.  Bob is going to
send it on to the vendor, and of course, will ask the hospital to be
reimbursed the 1 cent, and make sure he gets the other cent from the vendor.

they'll probably both give him a check for 1 cent each.

Oh well -- it gave us a laugh!
