Just an addendum to my note about syphilis in the mother and baby. The
positive serology in the baby could be passively transmitted IgG from
mother, and baby may not be infected. Harrison's text of internal
medicine recommends repeating serology on baby monthly and only treating
as congenital syphilis if titers increase or persist. Hope this helps.
