When our cat had kittens, there were one or two left after the others had
been given away.  As tends to happen, they were still nursing at maybe 3
months.  We had had her spayed, and I later mentioned to the vet that the
kittens were still nursing.  She said "Oh, that's just love.  She couldn't be
producing milk with no ovaries."  I said I was a lactation consultant and
didn't think there was any connection.  She was interested and asked me if I
would try expressing milk from her and let her know the result.  I did (much
to the cat's displeasure!) and, no big surprise, there was indeed milk.  So,
