One of our Neo's just order the use of 1/2 str. BM for oneof our
premies.=

I need more info about this,is this something that is done or was
done?

There is no evidence that ½ str. breastmilk will be tolerated any more
than full-strength. The M.D. is comparing breastmilk to formula.
Half-str formula is sometimes used, but not BREASTMILK!!! It is like
giving someone ½ str blood to see if they tolerate it!!! Diluting the
breastmilk will dilute the benefits the milk can provide. Why do
that???

The baby can be started on very small feedings, but they should be full
strength.
