If this is mom's first baby, she may be reacting to the (normal) amazingly
loud snuffles and gugles of the very young infant, particularly after
feeding, when the pooled milk and other secretions can sound to a new mom
like baby is on the verge of drowning.:)

This of course is often worse at night and in the recommended "back to sleep"
position.

If all else is normal(lungs clear, respiratory rate WNL, normal feeding
behavior and no other signs of distress)then I wouln't suggest any dietary
acrobatics or other interventions.
