i am not sure how well-researched this is or if it's okay to use w/ younger
infants...but i had thrush w/ my tandem nursing 2.5 & 1 yo boys that lasted 9
wks. i went through nystatin, diflucan and gentian violet until my ob said she
was no longer comfortable keeping me on either of the prescriptions. (think
sandpaper tongues coated in gasoline tandem nursing at this point...) the oddest
thing was neither boy had the slightest indication that they had thrush. ( i
kept taking them back to the ped for him to double and triple check every 2-3
wks) i also had no other symptoms whatsoever - just thrush on both nipples and
each boy was "assigned" his own breast as is our custom for about 4 month
stretches, when we switch. i found out about gse and that was the only thing
that worked! the taste is absolutely abysmal (i did the liquid topically and
orally) but i was cleared up within 5 days. at that point my nipples were almost
white from the cracking scars!
