Hi Rachael,
I'm chuffed to see you citing some of my research!
For the question on milk supply I will point you in the direction of another
of my papers which has a good look at the literature.
Gribble, K. (2004). The influence of context on the success of adoptive
breastfeeding: Developing countries and the west. Breastfeeding Review 12:
5-13.
And for how old is too old??? About 4 years is the oldest I know of where
mums have initiated breastfeeding and for children who seek to initiate bf
12 years (mother didn't let her but I know of a couple of 10yos whose
mothers let them).
Karleen

My questions remain as follows: What percent of adoptive mothers have you
seen or read about that successfully breastfeed their infants without using
any other means of milk? Also, how old is too old for an infant to start
breastfeeding after being adopted where they won't take and latch anymore?
Thank you for your time and consideration.
