A Mom who I have been working with for about 5 weeks had a sudden rush of
milk this afternoon so much so that she is painfully engorged and I have
resorted to cabbage leaves and some sage tea, as nothing comes out when she
pumps. She went to the cranial sacral therapist this afternoon for her
daughter, who is using an SNS and as difficulty sucking and swallowing with
the SNS. She does about three chews to one good suck. The cranial therapist
worked on the Mom's neck at 1:00 and by 3:30 she was in the throws of
engorgement. At the 3:00 feeding baby seemed to suck better but the breast
was so full it was hard for baby to latch. And by 6:00 very swollen sore
breasts. She has stopped her fenugreek as of now and she did have a clog in
one breast yesterday but she had worked it out this morning. Yesterday she
was concerned about her milk supply as she was only pumping 2 ounces (in
place of a feeding) from both sides and one ounce after a feeding. She pumps
so she can put the milk in the SNS and to help her supply as baby is not that
great to a stimulant to her breast because of her sucking pattern. Any
theories as to what happened. Thank you, Camille
