Wow, is that back again? I heard that 32 years ago when I had my first baby. In our hospital when a mom has a fever and is breastfeeding, we continue to allow the baby to breastfeed. If she is so ill that she cannot physically do it, then that might be another story. I have observed more "unexpained" fevers of short duration after delivery and have wondered if they are epidural related.

I have a quick question regarding how hospitals handle intrapartum fevers. What is your hospital's protocol for mothers who develop a fever during or after delivery? Are any of you seeing more of this and hearing mothers being told not to breastfeed?
