> Literature for Childbirth Educators: for Kathy Bruce
As a childbirth educator (CBE) and lactation counselor I am well aware of the
benefits of prenatal breastfeeding instruction. The CBE need to be convinced
of the benefits of breastfeeding and of adding this information to their
curricula. As an CBE I constantly face the dilemma of too much information
to pass on and too little time. So make certain you concentrate on the most
important stuff--what it is you want them to pass on to their clients.
Provide lots of handouts--even handouts for the parents; references,
including samples of those references; use and demonstrate the use of any
breastfeeding visual aids; and most of all--MAKE IT FUN! Childbirth
educators deal with the same information over and over. They love new and
interesting information and ways to present that information.
Good luck--I'd love to be there myself!

P.S. I'm new to LACTNET and I love it. Thank you all for the information!
