Hi All!
In response to Jack's question on the thistles:
Blessed Thistle and Milk Thistle are not the same plant, although they are
related.
There are actually 14 different varieties of thistle which are listed in
some herbal books. Blessed Thistle is a much better option for increasing
milk supply, although I find that it is best used in conjunction with
Fenugreek. The main reason for avoiding the use of Milk Thistle as a
galactagogue is due to the detoxification effect of this herb on the liver.
I prefer that my clients not pursue detoxification during bf because we are
quite unsure of how the released toxins may affect the child, although Milk
Thistle was used extensively as a galactagogue in the early 1900's.
If you would like a listing of the properties of these two herbs, please let
me know.

Wishing you health and wellness!
