Brassica oleracea var. capitata - "cabbage" acc. to Jim Duke - green cabbage
or red cabbage - not sure of savoy cabbage as not listed ( with bumpy leaves -
bulations if you like ) - these various cultivars not separated as varieties
by taxonomists. Other varieties of same species are brussels sprouts,
cauliflower, kale.

Does anyone know anything about "Vitamin U", apparently also called cabagin or
chemically, S-methylmethionine? Described in a lay-press article as found in
green vegetables like cabbage and used for ulcer treatment. Jim Duke's
phytoconstituent encyclopedia does not list it for any of the Brassica
oleracea varieties listed.

Always hunting for clues to cabbage's amazing reputation.
