Botulism isn't even in the picture here.  These babies are acutely ill,
and floppy and run into respiratory problems.

I don't believe the iron has anything to do with it.  You cannot
increase the iron in the mother's milk by giving her more iron.  Nature
protects the baby against getting too much iron.
