Ethical question. You have been "consulted" by email by the neice of
an old school friend. Formerly pre-term third baby, CGA 3 months,
exclusively breastfed, mother describes colicky symptoms with good
weight gain, you take an exhaustive history and various items suggest
possible cow's milk protein sensitivity. You discuss the value of
exclusive breastfeeding and affirm what the mother seems to be doing
now, suggest cut down or eliminate dairy/beef. Mother and baby seem
happy. A month later you read on Facebook that mother has just
started baby on solid foods - CGA now 4 months. So now you know
about this, although the mother hasn't asked your advice. What do
you do? Write a friendly note saying you've just seen the pics of
baby covered in food, and this isn't a good idea? Or wait until she
asks for your opinion??

Pamela Morrison, shaking head.....
