Women can feel threatened if they feel they are being asked to do what seems
impossible in the modern world of returning to work, etc. etc.

I like the thought of Ted Greiner, expressed in his paper on HIV (The HIV threat
to breastfeeding: Virus, fear and greed : at
http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/Spa/3156/aids.htm)

" Exclusive breastfeeding may be the rightr of the baby, but it is not the
responsibility of the individual mother, rather of society as a whole. Mothers
who perform such an important and irreplaceable service to society by
exclusively breastfeeding for about six months should in turn receive the
service they need from society during this period."

He goes on to list some of these.

Why should women (yet again) take the blame for not achieving something which is
made well nigh impossible by many of our modern social structures, expectations
and institutions? Thank you for reminding me, Ted.
