I have permission to post. I saw a client yesterday who has developed a
small, painful, skin-colored bump, about the size of a pimple on her
nipple. It is not a bleb or a fluid filled blister and is located midway
between the areola and the tip of the nipple on the bottom edge of the
nipple shaft. It is firm and has the appearance of an infected Montgomery
tubercle. Is it possible to have a Montgomery tubercle located on the
nipple that could become irritated or infected? My client first noticed it
about a month ago. Baby is two months old, so she was breastfeeding for a
month before it appeared.

Possibly of note, she had a piercing in this nipple years ago and has since
removed the jewelry and it has healed over. The entrance and exit of the
piercing is on the sides of the nipple, whereas this bump is on the bottom
edge of the nipple.
