I am a nurse that works in a nursing home which recently had an outbreak
of scabies. One of the nurses also working there is breastfeeding. Our
medical director advised her to pump before applying the Elimite (enough
to feed for 8-12 hours). The Elimite was then applied and could be
washed off after the 8-12 hours was up. She then showered and was able
to go back to nursing/bonding with her daughter. The other family
members were also treated as a preventative. This was unnecessary the
MD told her due to having to have prolonged contact to obtain this
parasite but is often done to prevent a reinfestation of an already
treated family member. However costly it may have saved her in the long
run??? Hope this helps somewhat.
