I totally agree, Barbara - though I expect the coiner of that phrase
was tongue-in-cheek and would not use the acronym with mothers.
Lactnet is a safe(ish) place for throwing around concepts that we
would not necessarily express with individual mothers seeking our
support.

Personally, I'm sticking with formula, for the reasons I outlined
yesterday. I am even uncomfortable with 'artificial feeding'
describing formula feeding, when talking with mothers, unless I am
very sure of my audience, as I would be concerned they would take
that as a judgement. It is very hard to use the word 'artificial'
without a sneer somehow creeping in : )

No, I am not worrying about making women feel guilty - I think most
of us have got our heads round that concept and know what a
misleading worry that can be - but I do worry about mothers feeling
judged and humiliated (both of which can happen to mothers who
breastfeed, too, of course). Like Barbara says, those feelings lead
to resentment, and zero chance of a change in behaviour.
