The only hands on experience I have had with this situation is once, mom
was a big woman (large boned) in addition to being slightly overweight.
To complicate (or make interesting) this experience, baby was very small
and petite. The most comfortable and successful position was mom
reclining back, during the day she used a recliner chair and pillows at
night. Then she placed the baby underneath the breast in a parallel
position down her stomach, rather than across her stomach. In this
position, some of the mass of the breast was shifted off to the side and
baby was able to grasp the nipple without being overwhelmed by the
breast.
Another suggestion for support of larger breasts is rolled
washcloth(s) underneath, this is convienent as most people have
washcloths handy.
