As Kathleen has mentioned one would only expect to see persistant thrush in
an ill probably severly compromised infant. Diabetes is not a disease that
presents in infants, to the best of my knowledge.

If this baby does have a problem with thrush apart from treating the mother
I would suggest checking if mother isn't using a pacifier, bottle or latex
covered spoon that needs disinfection by boiling to kil the fungal spores.
