Hi Wise ones,
My director sent this request to me to day. Anyone out there have policies
or procedures in place for dealing with pediatric patients who have a sibling
who is breastfeeding, and mom needs to stay at the hospital to be with the
other sibling.

"Would you ask your colleagues on the list serve what policy they have on
their inpatient peds units for breastfeeding moms? Not when the patient is
breastfeeding, but when the patient is the older sibling and mom has an infant
she is breastfeeding. Do they let the infant in the room with the patient?
Have a separate lounge? Does baby spend the night?"

Thanks so much,

Ellen Pinker RN BSN IBCLC
