I do not think babies mouths have gotten smaller, I just think that the
bottle feeding way has contributed to a difference. Bottle feeding in no
way mimics what muscles etc a baby uses to breastfeed , so the jaw etc
doesn't expand as it should and that may account for so many braces nowdays
:-( A major change in size and shape of mouths can be accounted for because
of bottle feeding, not because of evolution!

And think about all those little jars of pureed food too. They make a
difference in how soon a baby starts to chew on things. Parents today are
scared to death of "solids", when really in history babies learned to eat by
grabbing stuff off mom's plate and learning how to handle it or chewing on a
bone or a crust of bread. Heaven forbid! We have gotten so scientific
about how to feed a baby that we've lost the baby in the bathwater. I want
to get the book about Cave age babies in a techno world. Really want to
read it. Pat in SNJ
