Whoa! Never a dull moment in lactation land for us governance wonks.

Did you see IBLCE's call for nominations for up to **five** members of its
board of directors? Go to: http://www.iblce.org/news-from-the-board.

You will recall they sought public comment thru June 7 (now passed) on a
proposed revision to their organization by-laws. In that draft, you will
recall that the governance and decision-making power of IBLCE rests in the
board of directors. There are now 13 members; the proposed by-laws allow
for 9-16 members. You do the math.

And hey! I found the conflict of interest section that was taken out of
the by-laws! It is now a separate and much-lengthier document, which the
board members must annually sign. It is a nice piece of draftsmanship.
 Read it at
http://www.iblce.org/upload/downloads/ConflictOfInterestPolicyForm.pdf. AND
Board member "Applicants should also review and be willing to comply with
the International Code of Marketing of Breast-Milk Substitutes (WHO
Code)<http://www.who.int/nutrition/publications/code_english.pdf>."

IBLCE conducts our IBCLC exam, they discipline our profession, they enforce
our mandatory practice-guiding documents, they oversee CERPs approvals. A
huge amount of power and influence is vested in this board. Please please
please please -- consider whether you or an IBCLC colleague you know and
respect is a good candidate for this board.
