A few years ago after a bad hurricane had devistated parts of Florida
(Andrew? I don't remember) as I stood in line at the grocery store I
observed that the woman in front of me was buying several cases of formula.
I couldn't help but comment "oh is there a good sale on?" The woman told me
that she was a flight attendant and that she and her fellow employees were
sending needed items to Florida- the airline was paying the air frieght
charges. I decided that I would resist giving a breastfeeding lecture in
the grocery line, but did point out to her that she should put back the
powdered stuff back since there were water supply problems and she should
get the pre- prepared stuff. I think that she was quite impressed at how
expensive it was! She herself was not a mother. Maybe she will breastfeed
one day?!
