I had the distinct dis-pleasure this morning of buying all the February
parenting magazines at my local Barnes and Noble, to continue my research on
techniques the infant formula manufacturers use to influence mothers. Ugh,
I'm dreading looking through them. Several of them mention some new
research from University of New Hampshire showing that children spanking may
damage a child's motivation to learn, lower his/her IQ, and interfere with
cognitive development. They don't list the original source. I was not able
to track the original citation down on Medline. Does anyone know where this
research was published -- as in, a scientific journal? The lead author is
Murray Strauss. Thanks.
