URGENT: I have a mom with the most severely inverted nipples I've ever
seen. She, through a whole range of mismanagement (doc sent her for a
breast cancer work up when in fact she originally had a plugged duct), wound
up going from having a cracked nipples and a plugged duct to mastitis to a
huge abcess that drained to the outside. Now, two weeks after surgery, she
is very slowly healing and dealing with yeast (which probably caused much of
this as she has had an open fissure on her nipple since birth).
Fortunately, the hospital that did the surgery put her on the right track,
but I didn't see her until 9 days after the surgery to drain the abcess (the
wound is two inches long and a good one inch across in the largest gap).

The nipple will not stay out at all unless it is popped out repeatedly
before baby latches. We need a dimple ring to force the nipple to remain
out so the fissue has a chance to heal (it is folding back in on itself).
Mom states that the Diflucan, GV, Zinc, B-complex, distilled vinegar,
breast compression and high protein diet is helping, but the doctor isn't
happy with the progress with the fissure (she's only been on the full
protocol for 4 days though). Can someone advise me as to where I can
readily purchase a dimple ring supply or how to make them myself? TIA!

Gratefully,
Chris
