Dear lactnetters,

Does anyone know a lab that will test breast milk for its zinc level? Or
know the actual process for testing breast milk for zinc?

Once I meet with the Pediatric Dermatologist concerning this particular
infant I will post this interesting case on Lactnet. Simply stated, this
totally breastfed infant was found to have very low zinc levels. He is now
on a zinc supplement BID and the symptoms have resolved. At the moment
though, we are trying to locate a laboratory capable of testing human milk
for the zinc level or at least the directions for doing such. TIA
