I am interested in what others think of the idea that miconazole gel is
dehydrating to the skin of the nipples and can therfore cause
a 'dermatitis' like reaction. I remember Robyn Noble (QLD IBCLC) explaining
that this is because the gel is intended for mucous membranes not skin. For
this reason I tend to suggest creams rather than gels. (Of course gentian
violet is my prefered choice, if available.)
Does anyone else think the same?
