Well unfortunately, I think most people are still remarkably ignorant
about the risks of formula feeding, and Im sure the skilled surgeons who
operated on, and thwarted the natural selection process ( not that Im
knocking this at all), were probably completely unconcerned about how that
baby was fed. Their job was to bring this baby into the world alive, and
healthy but I would bet big bucks they have little idea on how breastfeeding
would have a major impact the future health of this child. As for the mom,
her baby was "saved" by modern medicine, so I think we know where her trust
is likely to be, not in herself, but in the technology. Unless the MDs and
others made a concerted effort to help her believe in her own body, and
nature, I would think she was pretty much left feeling like technology must
always be the best and safest choice. Sad but true... The surgeons need to
get some breastfeeding bascis and empathetic skills 'slapped' into their
heads perhaps? :)
