I'm feeling quite lucky here, I was born in 1967 and my mother nursed me for
9 months, I'm pretty sure she nursed my sister (younger) for longer.  I was
weaned because she needed surgery (for uterine fibroid tumors I think).
She's the one who told me to find a LLL meeting and tells me about a mother
who attended the meeting she went to, whose entire family was telling her
stop breastfeeding and LLL meetings were the only place she was encouraged
and supported. She also says that after the 3 day or so separation because
of the surgery that she had to wear me in the sling pretty much all the time
for nearly two weeks, I was apparently quite out of sorts.

What a culture we have...
