Nikki says,

"My understanding of the IBCLE requirements to sit the exam leads me to
believe that a person could have 2500 hours or 4000 hours of telephone
counselling, and have taken 30 hours of continuing education and sit the
exam, without ever having worked clinically."

While I suppose that is possible, and IBLCE doesn't say you CAN'T sit the
exam with only 4000 hours of phone counseling, it really doesn't meet what
IBLCE also says which is:

"Exam candidates are required to have extensive practical experience as
breastfeeding consultants before taking the exam. Candidates must meet ALL of
the requirements of ONE of these pathways:"

I would personally not consider 4000 hours of phone counseling, never having
touched a mother, a baby, or a breast as "extensive practical experience."

And I sure as heck wouldn't want that person assisting my daughter with
lactation issues.
