"the nursing mothers will be welcome to nurse in the common room, but they
had to agree that they would tell others in the room before beginning that
they were going to nurse, and they agreed to make an effort to be
"discreet," according to their own definition of "discreet."

Um, it just seems to me, that by announcing to others in the room that you
were going to nurse, suddenly takes all the "discretion" out of quietly just
doing it without others noticing...

I'm going to be nursing my three year old now. Anyone who thinks they might
be offended should please evert their eyes.
Whatever.

I'm sick of moms feeling worried that they are going to offend someone. My
pediatrics office where I work has a Lactation Consultant (me!) in the
office full time, and our breastfeeding rates are still terrible. The two
pediatricians just don't think to send babies my way for a consult unless
there is something "wrong". Heaven forbid they just suggest that I chat with
them about their plans to return to work or help them with their pumping
problems, or whatever. We don't charge extra for that (we could, but we
don't).

I'm hard pressed to find a two month old that is still exclusively nursing.
I'm working on an article, but I'm just not as eloquent with my words as so
many of you are.
