Margery wilson asked about videos for breastfeeding ed when clients must
go home early. ((Oops -- Orem model student. That's a nursing theorist
who believes we have clients, not patients!) (Sort of like the
philosophical difference between breastfeeding and breast-feeding.)
Anywho- altho certainly it's not the best way to learn, my
students have very much enjoyed Jeanne Watson Driscoll's "Breastfeeding:
Better Beginnings". One mom with sore nipples in the hospital told me at
a reunion that she just kept watching this video until she figured out
how her positioning differed from the babies in the video (who are all
properly attached).
This video is reasonably priced and is available from Childbirth
Graphics, among others.
I just ordered Linda Smith's video from "For Zealots Only" and
can't wait to see it. And Linda, I'm using your "give out candy" tip for
my nursing school presentation next week (which, amazingly, is about
breastfeeding!).
I'm doing a presentation in Burlington (VT! the beautiful one!)
in June on teaching bf in childbirth ed classes. anyone got tips or
teaching info to share?? (I promise to compile it and share it -- if you
give me permission!) (Wouldn't it be better to note when we did not want
things shared? Otherwise every posting ought to remind people who've been
off the list...)
Happy Dawn Kersula (FACCE, IBCLC) in southern Vermont, ready to
spend the rest of her life wallowing in the sweet honey of birthing and
breastfeeding
