Hi
Just got of the phone with a mom of fully breastfed 7 month old baby-beautiful weight gain, everything fine till 5 days ago when baby started vomiting copious amounts after every single feed.Ped said baby seemed fine,no sign of infection, blood work OK told very upset mom to feed the baby formula-he thinks this is an allergic reaction.Mom has been feeding formula to baby-vomiting stopped. She tried to breastfeed a few times-and baby barfs it all up....This mom is understandably extremely upset.
There is strong history of allergies-this baby's two siblings were very allergic to all common allergens till about age 2.
I advised this mom to keep on pumping and going on a hypoallergenic diet and trying to breastfeed again after a few days.I told her it may take two weeks to see results -if this indeed is the problem.I would love to hear your input please!
