Dear Rachel,

Thanks so much for posting about the lovely painting entitled Liegende
Mutter mit Kind. I found a replica of it at
http://www1.uni-bremen.de/~paula/paula2.html and I am now using it for the
"wallpaper" on my computer.

Cosleeping is a topic which comes up weekly in a support group for new
breastfeeding moms which I lead. Only about one in five women who come to
this group cosleep, and among those who do, one does it only resentfully.
Today she talked about how she hated having her 5-week old son press up
against her and breathe in her face. I was speechless. I am constantly
preaching the benefits of cosleeping while leading this non-LLL support
group and I plan to continue doing so. Breastfeeding women who complain
about exhaustion in the early weeks seem to be the same women who get up out
of bed to feed the baby. I have found it helpful to ask a mom who does
cosleep to do a little demonstration in front of the group to show how easy
it is, and how comfortable and relaxing it looks. Sometimes seeing is
believing.
