In The Breastfeeding Atlas, we show  photos of various ways you can tape a
supply line/feeding tube.  (Pg 107, Figs 263, 264, 254, 266, 276.) Both the
traditional taping and the positioning with the tube running along the
tongue are demonstrated.  Some infants (in my experience) don't like the
sensation of the tube poking their palates (when taped in the traditional
position on top of the breast.)  When the tube is taped on the lower jaw
side, the weight of the breast tends to keep the tube tucked into the
central groove of the tongue and it gets pressed up against the underside of
the breast as baby sucks, not tilted up to prickle the palate, as is more
likely when taped to the top and run under the upper lip.  Some super
sensitive babies need the tube to be hidden under a nipple shield.
