To all of you who have expressed concern for my 24 year old son who has been
so sick, I have good news. After much testing, there is still no diagnosis
but is he is MUCH better. (This is the second episode like this in 5
months.) He was hospitalized for 10 days with almost constant nausea and
vomiting, and could not eat or drink ANYTHING. He was on glucose for 5 days,
then TPN through a picc line for the next 5 days. He started to feel better
so they discharged him 2 days ago to home health care nurses with pcc line
still in place. The doctor PRESCRIBED HUMAN MILK as his first attempt at
anything by mouth and IT WORKED!! Piedmont Mother's Milk Bank at Wake
Medical Center in Raleigh NC fedexed the milk: thank you Mary Rose Tulley et
al. He kept it down and after about 24 ounces, taken a few ounces every
hour, he started to feeling really good. Yesterday he had two plain baked
potatoes and toast, and will add more bland food today. He is still going
to John Hopkins for a complete workup in August. A lot of people in our
small town where "talk" spreads like wildfire have heard about Joe drinking
breastmilk and people are amazed. The health care professionals are learning
from this. I'm pretty sure the only reason his doctor prescribed the milk
was to satisfy me but now he can see it was a good thing. Thank you all for
your support and prayers. Hope to see a lot of you in New Orleans. I will
be exhibiting my books so please stop by and speak to me.
