Fiona:

       my first reaction would be to look at baby and rule in or out
something bothering this baby.

        if reflux has been diagnosed through barium ... reflux can cause
babies to be rather unhappy. when the acid sits in the esoph. it tends to
erode and irritate the lining... unfortunately many of the liguids that are
given as traetment are alcohol based and they HURT going down. some of these
babies want to suckle ALL the time for "relief": but may be unhappy if there
is liguid coming,  seallowing any fuid can be irritating.

       while i am not sure that baby can already had a "trained" response ii
am sure it is possible i suspect that mom at this point is so "wired" that
her reactions/perceptions are "heightened"....
